Deep Purple 's new album , Whoosh!, which was scheduled for release on June 12th, will now be released in August.

Vocalist Ian Gillan wrote about the decision in a post on the band's social media: “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction… well, not exactly in this case; more cause and effect, where the latter is usually better than the former. Distribution lines (physical sales of CDs, vinyl, cassette tapes, etc.) and points of sale are closed until The Dreaded Lurgy becomes indigestible. Therefore, as there are still many of us who love to have a new album in our hands, and following the advice of our magnificent record label, we have decided to postpone the release of Whoosh! until August.”

“During my quarantine, I’ve been listening to a lot of music, and I suppose it’s the same for many of us during this frightening disruption in our lives. We know that music will play an important role in our celebrations when we return to the light. But health comes first, so I must keep my excitement about sharing Whoosh! with you back in a box for a while. Stay well and follow the light… IG”
